Intensive Behavioral Health Services

Children, teens, and young adults up to age 21 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges may benefit from our community-based Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS). This program is designed to give each individual the tools they need to face challenges with a greater sense of strength and resilience. Our services are provided for high schools in zip codes 19128, 19138, and 19150. Our team of Behavior Consultants and Mobile Therapists work with each child, adolescent, or young adult, and their family to develop an individualized plan to address specific needs and difficulties. Services may include:

  • Assessment across settings that are typical for a child, teen, or youth adult
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments
  • Individual and family therapy
  • Behavior Consultation across home, school, and community settings to develop interventions to teach skills and improve overall functioning
  • 1:1 individual support in a specific identified setting with a Behavioral Health Technician to teach skills

For referrals or information about IBHS, please call (267) 297-5170.

Applied Behavioral Analysis Services

Our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services are based on the science of learning and behavior and involve the process of implementing basic behavioral interventions to create meaningful behavior changes. ABA uses these interventions to increase desired or socially appropriate behaviors and decrease behaviors that create barriers for them or cause harm to themselves or others. Data is recorded while behavioral interventions are implemented to help determine the effectiveness of the interventions and make ongoing treatment decisions. ABA services are typically provided to children, youth, or young adults diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and include:

  • Behavior Consultants and Assistant Behavior Consultants provide an assessment of the child’s or adolescent’s strengths and skill deficits based upon observations and data collection. They design interventions to help the individual build their skills and decrease any behaviors that are interfering with daily activities.
  • Behavioral Health Technicians implement 1:1 interventions designed by the Behavior Consultant in the individual’s home, school, or other locations in their community.

Family Based Mental Health Services

Family Based Mental Health Services (FBMHS) is an intensive in-home program designed to help families care for their children, teens, and young adults (up to age 21) who are experiencing severe emotional and behavioral difficulties. The program helps parents and caregivers increase their effectiveness and reduce the need for out-of-home placement or higher level of care such as residential treatment or psychiatric hospitalization. A two-person clinical team meets with families multiple times each week, based on the needs of the family. The team meets with a family in their home, in the child’s school, or in the community, and supports caregivers to build skills and improve a child’s and family’s functioning. FBMHS utilizes an evidence-based treatment model called Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy. Services provided include:

  • Individual and Family Therapy
  • 24-hour Crisis Stabilization
  • Case Management Services
  • 90-Day Overlap Service with Residential Treatment

FBMHS provides support for families throughout Philadelphia County. For referrals or information, please contact Isabelle Gauthier, Director of FBMHS, at (215) 730-2270 or email.
