We are pleased to announce that Omar Mateo, MSW, has joined Gemma Services as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Mr. Mateo brings a wealth of skills and experience to the newly developed role of COO. With more than 20 years of experience in the social services sector, his previous roles have focused on improving and streamlining processes through evidence-based practices and data-driven management.

Before joining Gemma, Mr. Mateo served as a leader of an unaccompanied minor children’s program in New Jersey where he oversaw a team of more than 400 staff and was instrumental in growing the organization’s budget from $5 million to more than $40 million in just five years. Under his management, the State of New Jersey recognized the program as a leader in promoting diversity and inclusion. Mr. Mateo is passionate about supporting children and families and developing leaders, especially those from the most marginalized and underserved communities.

Mr. Mateo holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Penn State and a Master of Social Work from Stockton University.
